5 stars Great Resource 2010-02-21

Reviewer: Jill M. Ward

I just purchased this book to use with my three year old at home.
There are indeed 52 weeks of curriculum - holidays are grouped separately.
The activities are child-centered and engaging and my daughter has loved everything so far.
I am a teacher - and I give this book a big, fat smiley- face stamp!

3 stars Great content/not great quality 2010-02-19

Reviewer: Sandra Fox

I love the content in this book--the units are easy to follow and understand and the activities are quick, simple, and do not require expensive materials. My children love the activities. The negative is the quality of the book binding. I've used my book for three weeks and the pages containing the table of contents have already fallen out and my book is now held together with paperclips.

5 stars Great tool for Stay at Home Moms 2010-02-08

Reviewer: T. Anderson

I purchased this book to use at home with my 3 year old. After teaching her colors, shapes, letters and numbers, I found myself struggling to come up with other creative lessons. I like the idea of weekly themes. I pick a theme for the week and every day, we do a little activity from the plans. I really like that there is a list of suggested books that go along with the theme. Although it is designed for a classroom, I found a lot of the activities were easy to modify for home use.
I felt compelled to write a review because someone gave bad marks for the book not being a weekly curriculum because it only has a week in November and December. Those plans are found in the Special Days and Holidays section. There is also a Science theme section, Me and
my World theme, Art theme and Miscellaneous theme sections that are not assigned to a specific date. So all together there are in fact atleast 52 weekly themes. I hope the reviewer realized this and did not return the book. It would be a shame to miss out on what this book has to offer.

5 stars Great book for preschoolers! 2009-04-23

Reviewer: Wine Country Mom

I am a stay at home mom, and needed some creative activites for my 3 year old. This book provided just that. You can take their weekly schedules, that is centered around holidays, events, special birthdays, etc., or just go with one of their themes (i.e. weather, animals, etc.) This would be a great book for someone who watches more than one child, to get ideas for centers and field trips.

4 stars No "Real" Holidays included 2008-07-22

Reviewer: K. Losenicky

I am a stay at home mom of a 2 year old and a 3 year old, and was anxious to get some good ideas for teaching with projects to reinforce--this book will be great for that. I am, however, disappointed that under the "Holidays" section, none of the major holidays are covered. I was hoping to get some good seasonal ideas. I read a review in which someone mentioned something for the "Third week in November"...logically, one would assume Thanksgiving would be covered in the section (atleast I did). But, no, it's Children's Book Week. Which is great...but seriously, I would think Thanksgiving activities would be a little more realistic. So, I will be needing a book of holiday activities to supplement this. We'll still do the activities for these weeks...just not during other holidays.
