WOW!!!!
HAVEN'T READ ANYTHING SO POWERFUL OR SO THOUGHT PROVOKING IN A LONG TIME. BUT MOST OF JODI PICOULT'S BOOKS DO THIS TO ME. SECOND GLANCE WAS EVEN MORE SO! I BECAME ANNOYED WHEN I HAD TO PUT IT DOWN BECAUSE I HAD TO COOK, EAT, SLEEP OR HAD TO GOD FORBID ANSWER MY HUSBAND'S QUESTION ABOUT WHAT WAS ENGROSSING IN THIS BOOK. I COULDN'T EXPLAIN, BUT YOU HAD TO BE THERE. GREAT BOOK AND CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT BOOK COULD TOP THIS. ONLY ANOTHER JODI PICOULT. PLEASE I HOPE SHE WRITES VERY QUICKLY.

I am pleased with the condition of this used book. The book arrived in less than a week and well packaged. I would buy from this vendor again.

1 stars Utter Disappointment 2010-08-10

Typically when reading a novel written by Jodi Picoult I find that I can't put it down. The exact opposite was the case for Second Glance as I found myself struggling to continue after reading a mere 35 pages. All of the elements for a fantastic read are present as is Picoult's spot on writing technique, but the mark was missed by a mile. Another reviewer said that she kept waiting for something to happen and I couldn't agree more. Page after page I was waiting for that "it" moment which brought it all together but that moment just wasn't there. This novel just did not make sense.

5 stars Excellent book, my fav of Ms. Picoult's work 2010-08-07

I am a huge fan of Ms. Picoult's work, I've read over half of her novels thus far. This one is my favorite of hers and it ranks among my all time favorite books by any author. I had been skeptical about this one after reading the premise (that's actually why I hadn't read it sooner than I did), I'm not into ghost stories at all. I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. I enjoyed it from the very first page, couldn't put it down. The story was great, very well written and it flowed nicely. I loved that this book didn't feel like a typical ghost story, it wasn't a horror story either really. I don't want to give anything away here, I'd say just give it a chance. The characters are very interesting, the story has all sorts of twists...it was just a great read all together. Ms. Picoult has really put together an intriguing story. It is tragic, romantic and hopeful.

3 stars Which author wrote this book? 2010-07-13

I admit that I am only a third of the way through this book, but what has struck me like a bolt of lightning, is that Ms. Picoult's writing style in Second Glance is awfully like that of Alice Hoffman. I have read other Picoult books- and they're very good- but this one seems to be written in a different style. Ms. Hoffman has written many books -most of which I have read and loved- and her style is very much hers-- always lots of magickal happenings and descriptions-- and I'm finding that in this book by Ms. Picoult. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?
