I’ve been developing software since 1999 and working with PHP code since 2000.  My qualifications include a computer science undergraduate degree and a Masters in Business Administration.

At first glance, PHP is an easy language to jump into and that means many people have the ability to start “programing” with it.  Unfortunatley, many inexperienced developers don’t understand develpment requires more than the syntax of a programming language or getting the job done as quickly as possible.  It’s very easy to shoot yourself in the foot with web programming languages, especially PHP.  There is cost/benefit analysis, software architectural design and questions like “is this the best solution for the client?” to consider.

Often times, the wrong person for the job will tell you “they can do it” after looking at your project, when in fact they *could* do it - just that it would take them much longer than they say and will create a lot more headache on your part.
